Embroidery with metal threads and appliqué
The appliqué technique is one of the earliest means of decoration. Ornaments are created by couching pieces of fabric onto the base with a stitch. Užutrakis Countess Jadwiga Tyszkiewiczowa used scraps of eighteenth-century fabrics for her chasubles, trimmed their edges with a rope or metal thread and decorated them with sequins.
